Harmon re-ups for 11th season of ‘NCIS’
Fans of “NCIS” can breathe easy. Mark Harmon will be sticking around, and his hit CBS drama is returning next season.
The network announced Harmon’s one-year contract extension on Friday along with the renewal of a show that just keeps getting bigger.
Now in its 10th season, “NCIS” for the first time ranks as TV’s most-watched program, CBS said, outpacing even NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” “NCIS” logs an average 21.5 million viewers each week, up 7 percent over last year.
Harmon stars as Special Agent Jethro Gibbs, who heads up a team that investigates crimes involving U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel. The cast also includes Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll and David McCallum.
“NCIS” premiered in Fall 2003.
Clarkson sings engagement praises
Kelly Clarkson says she’s extremely happy she’s nominated for three Grammy Awards, but there’s something else the pop singer is more thrilled about: her recent engagement.
Clarkson, who calls Nashville, Tenn., her home, became engaged to Brandon Blackstock in December.
Blackstock, who manages country star Blake Shelton, will be by Clarkson’s side when she attends the Grammys, to be presented Feb. 10 in Los Angeles. Her No. 1 hit, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” is nominated for record of the year and best pop solo performance.
Law getting Super Bowl tutorial
British actor Jude Law says he’ll be taking part in a time-honored American tradition this weekend: Super Bowl Sunday.
“I follow most sports, so of course I’m aware of it and I’ll probably watch it, but I live in London and so I don’t follow it that closely. It’s more than just a game here, though, right? It’s like have a party. Have a dip. Drink some beer,” said Law.
When asked if he’ll be participating in any tailgate parties when the Baltimore Ravens face off against the San Francisco 49ers, Law admitted he had no clue what “tailgating” meant.
Luckily his “Side Effects” co-star, Channing Tatum, said he’d teach Law about Americans football traditions. He said he was heading to his New Orleans bar, Saints and Sinners, for the weekend and was hoping for a good game.
The actors joined their castmates, including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rooney Mara, at the New York premiere of their psychological thriller “Side Effects” on Thursday. The film will open in U.S. theaters on Friday.
