Woods leads through 36 at Torrey Pines
Golf: Tiger Woods made it look easy on a dreary day at Torrey Pines in San Diego and wound up in a place he hasn’t been in five years.
He had the 36-hole lead by himself at one of his favorite PGA Tour stops.
Woods didn’t miss a shot during a four-hole stretch around the turn on the North Course that included a 5-iron to 5 feet for eagle and a wedge that one-hopped off the pin to set up birdie. It carried him to a 7-under 65 on Friday and gave him a two-shot lead in the Farmers Insurance Open.
Woods was at 11-under 133 and had a two-shot lead over Billy Horschel, with six other players two shots behind. Already a favorite with seven wins as a pro at Torrey Pines, Woods had even more in his favor going into the weekend. He had a 74-0 edge in PGA Tour wins against the next seven players behind him.
Hawks come way back, win in 2OTs
NBA: Kyle Korver scored 27 points and the host Atlanta Hawks overcame a 27-point deficit in the first half to beat Boston 123-111 in double overtime, handing the Celtics their sixth straight loss.

The Rockets had lost 8 of 9. … Kevin Durant had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Oklahoma City overwhelmed host Sacramento 105-95. … Metta World Peace hit five 3-pointers on his way to scoring 17 points and the host Los Angeles Lakers beat Utah 102-84, snapping a four-game skid.
Devils win third consecutive game
NHL: Ilya Kovalchuk scored 4:39 into overtime, and the New Jersey Devils won their third straight game to start the lockout-shortened season, 3-2 over the winless Washington Capitals at Newark, N.J.

PSU near making some settlements
College football: Penn State’s negotiator for civil claims involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky said the school has been in talks with 28 people and settlements with some individuals could be complete soon. The 28 claimants are 18 more than were involved in Sandusky’s criminal case for sexual abuse.

Figure skating: Three-time champion Jeremy Abbott took the lead after the men’s short program at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships at Omaha, Neb.
A-Rod could miss entire season
Baseball: New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says it’s possible that third baseman Alex Rodriguez could miss the entire season while coming off hip surgery. Rodriguez, 37, had surgery on his left hip last week.
Minnesota sets NCAA unbeaten mark
Miscellany: The Minnesota women’s hockey team beat Wisconsin 2-0 in Madison, Wis., extending its NCAA-record win streak to 33 to also give it sole possession of the NCAA mark for consecutive games without a loss or tie.
• Young says he ‘probably’ signed loan: Former NFL quarterback Vince Young has admitted under oath he probably signed at least some of the documents for a $1.9 million loan he claims he shouldn’t have to repay. Young is fighting a $1.7 million judgment.
• Svindal gets 20th career World Cup victory: In Kitzbuehel, Austria, Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway won his third super-G ski race of the season for his 20th career World Cup victory.
