Obituary: Sitter, Julius “Jul”, Master Sergeant, Army National Guard, (Ret)
84 Years of Life A resident of Wild Rose Prairie, Deer Park, Washington, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Jul is the dear husband of Maria Triplett Sitter and the loving father and father-in-law of Rick and Kathy Sitter of Hemet, CA., Terry and Jim Dowling of Lancaster, CA., Steve (Pam) Sitter of Quartz Hill, CA., Beth and Larry Dexter of Deer Park, WA., Laurel and Darryl Sutton of Holly Glen, CA., Marcy and Mike Sanders of San Diego, CA., Amie and Jon Jones of Las Vegas, NV., and Zack Sitter of Spokane, WA.
He is the step-father of Toni McKee of Ladner, British Columbia, Canada, and John and Joy Triplett of Mt.
Vernon, WA.
Jul’s brothers and sisters are Julie Miller of Pleasant Hill, CA, Ann Kolstad of Lakeside, CA., Jack (Carol) Sitter of Needles, CA., Carol Sickler of Richland, WA., and brother-in-law, Bill Priess, of Napa, CA.
He enjoyed twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Jul has been preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Margaret Wald Sitter, his brother and wife, Ben and Marion Sitter, a sister, Megs Priess, an infant son, Zebula Sitter, and a brother-in-law, Ken Kolstad.
Born in 1929 at Strasburg, Emmons County, North Dakota, Jul graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck, ND, and earned an A.A.
Degree from Bismarck Junior College.
He joined the Army National Guard in North Dakota and served in California, Oregon, and Spokane for over 39 years, retiring as a Personnel Sergeant and Supply Specialist.
Jul is a member of St. Mary Presentation Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 9721 in Deer Park and in Delta, B.C.
and was a past Exaulted Ruler of Elks Lodge 228 in Spokane Valley.
He was an avid marathon runner, loved to play cards, poker, and snooker, and with Maria as his partner, Jul enjoyed ballroom dancing.
Vigil Service will be at 7:00 P.M.. Thursday, July 18, 2013, and the Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 19, 2013, both at St. Mary Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park, located at East 602 Sixth Avenue, with Rev.
Father Albert Grasher, Jr. celebrant, followed with interment in Holy Redeemer /Kelly Cemetery.
Military Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army/Washington Army National Guard.
A reception for family and friends will follow the services at the church’s social hall.
