West dusts it up with LAX paparazzi
Police are investigating a scuffle between rapper Kanye West and a cameraman at Los Angeles International Airport, where paparazzi are known to lurk in hopes of snapping shots of celebrities.
LAX police Sgt. Steve Savala said numerous witnesses are being interviewed about the Friday afternoon incident to compile a report for detectives to investigate.
TMZ posted a video Friday of the alleged incident, showing West being thronged by cameras while trying to get into a white Mercedes Benz waiting curbside.
As flashbulbs illuminate his face, West accuses the paparazzi of trying to provoke him before lunging at the camera and trying to wrestle it away.
A police officer tells them to break it up before West is chauffeured away.
‘Glee’ delayed by Monteith’s death
“Glee” will return for its fifth season a week later than planned because of the death of series star Cory Monteith, Fox said Friday.
In a statement, the network and “Glee” producers said that “in light of the tragic passing” of the beloved cast member, the decision was made to delay production until early August.
The show’s fall return, scheduled for Sept. 19, has been moved to Sept. 26. No further information was available, Fox and producers said.
Monteith’s body was found last weekend in a Vancouver, British Columbia, hotel room, and tests showed he died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol.
Fox and “Glee” producers have not publicly discussed how the show will deal with the loss of Monteith, 31, and his character, or if a decision has yet been made on how to proceed.
Franklin upbeat on Motown’s future
Aretha Franklin says Detroit’s future is bright.
The Detroit native, known as the “Queen of Soul,” is reacting to her city’s bankruptcy. In a statement, Franklin says Detroit may be “bankrupt monetarily but we are well-funded in spirit and what it takes to come back.”
Franklin says Detroit is a winner. She says “between new and dynamic leadership with the Big Three, the private sector and a little help from D.C., Detroit’s best and most glorious days are still ahead.”
The statement was released Friday by publicist David Brokaw. The 71-year-old Franklin grew up singing in her father’s Baptist church in Detroit.
