Obituary: Mcintosh, David Sterling

Age 88

McINTOSH, David Sterling Longtime LaCrosse area farmer, passed away Monday night, June 3, 2013 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax.

He was 88.

A Graveside Service will be Friday, June 7th, at 1:00 PM in the LaCrosse Cemetery.

Pastor Lynn Nelson will officiate.

David was born July 26, 1924 in Walla Walla, Washington to David B. and Effie McIntosh.

He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter.

He served during World War II as a machinist in the Aleutian Islands.

He was honorably discharged in 1946 and moved back to Walla Walla.

David spent about four years on the rodeo circuit before he was lassoed by a young lady named Sally.

He married Sally Hayden December 3, 1949 in Estes Park, Colorado.

They moved to LaCrosse, Washington where they farmed and raised livestock for much of their lives.

David was a member of the RCA (Rodeo Cowboys Association) and the PBR (Professional Bull Rider’s).

He was also an active member of the Colfax Eagle’s Lodge.

He and Sally enjoyed traveling.

Sally passed away March 11, 1985.

David met Dee McKean through mutual friends and the two have been together since 1987.

They liked going to the PBR in Las Vegas and made the trek at least four or five times.

David is survived by his companion, Dee McKean, at their LaCrosse home; his children, David R. McIntosh, LaCrosse, Larry H. and Mary McIntosh of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Jeannie and Walter/Sonny Riley of Central Ferry, Washington; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; Dee’s children, Kirk, Linda, Rondi and Carey; her 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Sally, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Bork, and by his parents.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Whitman Hospital Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
