Pullman, Clarkston advance

The Cheney-Colville football game tonight is at Colville, not Cheney as reported in Wednesday’s paper.

Maddi Cillay and Anne Mari Petrino scored early in the second half, and the Pullman girls soccer team kept its season alive with a 2-1 win over Cheney in a District 7 2A elimination match Thursday in Pullman.

After a scoreless first half, Cillay took a pass from Diana DeWald in the 54th minute and scored to put the Greyhounds ahead 1-0. Pullman took a 2-0 lead when Petrino scored six minutes later.

Cheney’s Abby Hammermeister scored late in the match, but the Blackhawks (5-11) couldn’t add another.

Pullman (8-6) will play in another elimination match Tuesday at West Valley (14-2). That winner will earn a berth to the state tournament.
