(Age 90)

Helen L. Roth, former long-time Spokane resident and recently of Colfax, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Whitman Health and Rehab Center in Colfax.

She was 90.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 14th at 11:00 A.M. at the Colfax Church of the Nazarene.

The graveside service will be Tuesday, October 15th at 11:00 A.M. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery in Spokane.

Helen was born July 2, 1923 in Spokane to Phillip and Katie (Schoessler) Buchholz.

She grew up in the city and attended Lewis-Clark High School.

Helen met a handsome gentleman from her church, Victor Roth, and the couple married October 6, 1940.

They made their home in Spokane along the same street she grew up on.

Once raising a family of her own, Helen benefitted from the close proximity to her parents.

The kids always loved spending time with grandma and grandpa too.

Victor was always busy as a warehouseman for Jensen-Byrd and Helen did house cleaning and caretaking for several local families.

They spent 25 years in this neighborhood.

Once the kids were grown and gone she and Victor moved to the Spokane Valley in 1968.

She lived there for the next 45 years until moving to Colfax 2 years ago.

Helen was always faithful to her church.

She attended Terrace Heights Baptist Church and later the Greenacres Baptist Church.

She and Victor both enjoyed working in their yard and raising beautiful flower gardens.

Many vacations were spent working on house projects or painting.

After they retired they enjoyed traveling some.

Victor died September 9, 2002.

Helen is survived by her children Vicki and husband Ray Jeffries of Palouse, and Rod Roth of Colfax and his special friend for many years, Liz; six grandchildren, Vincent (Cami) Roth of Kirkland, WA, Lynnette (Jay) Goodson, Moscow, ID, and Michelle (Michael) Harrison of St. John, WA.

; six great-grandchildren, Kaden and Drake Roth, Amanda and Matthew Goodson, and Reagan and Grant Harrison.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur and two sisters, Elma and Inez.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Union Gospel Mission or the Ogden House, both in Spokane.
