Denarius McGhee completed 10 of 13 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the first half leading Montana State to a 34-17 win over UC Davis on Saturday in Bozeman.

Cody Kirk went over the 3,000- yard mark for career rushing and scored twice for the Bobcats (6-2, 4-0 Big Sky). He finished with 119 yards on 20 carries.

After Brady Stuart’s 29-yard field goal put UC Davis (3-6, 3-2) on the board in the second quarter, Gabe Manzanares capped off the Aggies following drive with a 9-yard touchdown run to make it 14-10 with 1:57 to play in the half.

MSU wasted no time answering, however, as it drove 70 yards, keyed by a 45-yard pass from McGhee to running back Shawn Johnson. Kirk bulled into the end zone from 3 yards out with just 42 seconds to play in the half, propelling MSU to a 21-10 halftime lead.

Northern Arizona 17, Cal Poly 13: Marcus Alford returned a kickoff 96 yards for a TD after a 22-yard field goal by Bobby Zalud had given Cal Poly the lead 3 seconds into the fourth quarter and the Lumberjacks (6-2, 4-1) held on to beat the Mustangs (3-5, 2-2) in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

The victory leaves NAU in third place in the conference, one-half game behind EWU and Montana State.

Portland State 14, North Dakota 10: DJ Adams ran for 111 yards and scored two TDs in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings (4-4, 1-3) hold off North Dakota (2-6, 1-4) in Portland.

Facing a 10-0 deficit, the Vikings fired back in the fourth quarter as Adams scored on two straight drives on runs of 4 and 15 yards to take the lead. Each of the two scores came on short drives following a blocked punt and another pressured punt that resulted in a turnover on downs.

North Dakota got the ball with 3:12 remaining, but Joe Mollberg was intercepted by David Edgerson, preserving the Vikings’ first conference victory this season.

Southern Utah 19, Idaho State 9: Mike Sharp had a 34-yard TD run to help the Thunderbirds (6-3, 3-2) stave off the Bengals (3-5, 1-4) in Cedar City, Utah.

Sharp rushed for 157 yards on 31 carries as SUU piled up 240 yards on the ground.

Colton Cook booted four field goals for the Thunderbirds.

Justin Arias passed for 241 yards, including a 4-yard TD to Cameron Richmond, for Idaho State.
