Obituary: Gardiner, David R.

Age 71

GARDINER, David R. (Age 71) Passed away at home on October 18, 2013.

We lost a father, husband, and friend.

He was born February 1, 1942, in Long Beach, California to John and Afton Gardiner.

David was married to his wife for over 35 years.

He worked at Wagstaff Engineering for over 20 years.

David was avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing also was a master falconer who was active in the falconry community for 25 years.

As a falconer he enjoyed teaching children about falcons.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years as a Military Policeman assigned to B CO 504TH MP BN with service in Vietnam from 1964 to 1965.

As a young man he raced flat track motorcycles in southern California winning several local races.

David enjoyed playing music on guitar, banjo and playing blues on the harmonica.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Afton Gardiner, and brother Phillip Gardiner.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri of Springdale, his three sons David Jr. of Freeland, Beau of Valley, Will of Spokane.

His brother, Eric (Philippines), his sister, Diana, and brother in-law, Randy of Refection Lake.

His mother-in-law Audrey Ely of Canon City, CO and sister-in-law Sunny Jenkins of Los Banos, CA.

His daughter-in-law, Melinda of Freeland.

His stepson Hiram (Netherlands).

His seven grandchildren, Taylor and Levi of Spokane, Amelia and Sterling of Freeland, Esteban, Sofia, and Luisa (Netherlands).

His nieces Jessica of Cheney, Melissa of Mead, Jamie of Tulsa, OK and nephew Max of Deer Park, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake.
