Obituary: Goolie, Charles Robert “Bob”

Age 84

GOOLIE, Charles Robert “Bob” Passed away March 29th, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born October 3rd, 1929 to Katherine Venneri Goolie and Charles Goolie He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Rose, Mary, Eve and Theresa and two brothers; Harry and Frank.

Bob was a life long resident of Spokane.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years before going to work for the Spokane International / Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for 38 years before retiring in 1991.

Bob and his brothers Harry and Frank worked together at the railroad and the three of them always enjoyed that time together.

He loved fishing, camping and vegetable gardening.

He also enjoyed trips to the Washington Coast with his family where he would fly his collection of kites.

Bob also took up the hobby of working with stained glass and his beautiful work decorates the homes of family and friends.

He is survived by Shirley his wife of 59 years, son Steve (Kim) and daughter Rebecca.

Three grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly), Brian (Cassondra), Kaytlin and great-granddaughter Mayah.

We loved our “Charlie”.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

We will miss him and he will always live on in our hearts.

Always loving, always loved.

Memorial Services will be held at Holy Cross Funeral Center Chapel, 7200 N. Wall St., Spokane, on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 at 10am with inurnment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to join us for a celebration of Bob’s life.
