Man taken into custody after shot fired Tuesday in north Spokane
A man who fired a gun once in a Spokane home near the NorthTown Mall was taken into custody after a short standoff with SWAT officers Tuesday morning.
Police were called to a home in the 300 block of East Sanson Avenue just before 6 a.m. by a man who said he needed help, according to a news release. Officers arrived and heard a gunshot inside. SWAT officers were called and negotiators eventually made contact with the man through a window.
He walked out of the house around 7 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators found a gun inside the home. The man, who was not identified by police, was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, police said.
