Hovren goes over 30 points again

Don’t blink or you’re likely to miss another career-type game from Madison Hovren.

The Central Valley senior scored 34 points on Friday to eclipse her previous best of 33 she reached on Tuesday to lead the Bears to a 70-49 win over visiting University in Greater Spokane League girls basketball action.

It’s the third straight game Hovren has scored more than 30 – the first time a CV player has done so. She also had 17 rebounds.

CV (4-1, 4-1) took care of things in the first half, opening a 46-27 lead. Freshmen twins Lexie and Lacie Hull combined for 22 points for the Bears.

Brooke Bailey scored a team-high 17 points for U-Hi (3-2, 3-2) and Emma Kennedy added 13.

Gonzaga Prep 72, North Central 33: The visiting and league-leading Bullpups (7-0, 5-0) cruised to a 36-19 lead by halftime. Otiona Gildon paced the Bullpups with 18 points and Laura Stockton had 15. Megan Dean led the Indians (0-7, 0-5) with 13.

Mead 51, Mt. Spokane 45: Trailing 27-25 at halftime, the Panthers (5-2, 4-1) rallied in the second half to hold off the visiting Wildcats (2-3, 2-3). Coreen Labish and Sue Winger had 15 points and four blocked shots each to lead Mead. Jaidyn Lyman led Mt. Spokane with 13 points.

Lewis and Clark 66, Rogers 18: The visiting Tigers (4-1, 4-1) eased to their fourth straight win. Janieva Bates led LC with 16 points. Michaela Kay added 10. LC outscored the Pirates (0-6, 0-5) 29-2 in the third quarter.

Ferris 54, Shadle Park 34: The visiting Saxons (2-4, 2-3) led all the way. Bria Bowton led Ferris with 18 points and Siniva Areta added 12. Willow Rinsinger led Shadle (1-6, 1-4) with 10 points.
