GSL has big night with 3 victories

Three of four Greater Spokane League basketball teams were victorious in loser-out openers Tuesday.

No victory was more impressive than Mt. Spokane’s 51-50 road win over top Mid-Columbia Conference seed Kamiakin. The Wildcats (6-15) snapped a 13-game losing streak. They travel to meet Greater Spokane League top seed University (12-9) on Friday. Tipoff is at 8 as part of a doubleheader with the U-Hi girls.

Stu Stiles led the Wildcats with 22 points and Jacob Krantz added 11.

University 85, Hanford 52: The Titans had a hot shooting night to easily turn away the visiting Falcons (6-16). U-Hi made 35 of 59 shots from the field including 10 of 21 3-pointers. The Titans’ Robert Little led all scorers with 19 points to go with seven rebounds, Khalil Williams had 13 points and Ben Kuiper added 12. U-Hi had 22 assists led by Garrett Schmerer and Michael Isotalo, who had seven and five respectively.

Kennewick 87, Rogers 61: The Lions (13-8) used a 23-7 start to run over the visiting Pirates (6-15). Melik Hampton led Rogers with 21.

Shadle Park 89, Southridge 65: Five Highlanders scored in double figures as they pulled away from the visiting Suns (7-14). Shadle (8-12) travels to Kennewick (13-8) Friday. George Pilimai scored 18 points and Skyler Kelley had 13. Freshmen Andreas Brown and N’Keil Nelson combined for 28.
