Five people injured when van rolls over

From Staff Reports

A van carrying 10 people returning from church to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center rolled over Sunday in Coeur d’Alene, injuring five occupants.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on East Mullan Trail Road south of Fernan Lake. The van was headed to the Good Samaritan rehab facility after the group had attended a service at the Altar Church on Best Avenue.

The five injured passengers were taken to Kootenai Health, where they were treated for minor injuries.

Pastor Tim Remington said it’s miraculous that the situation wasn’t worse. “We’re just really blessed,” he said.

The van landed on its top, with gas pouring out of it, while emergency responders worked to free everyone inside.
