Bulldogs hand Eagles first loss

Nicole Sheer had 14 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals and Colfax dominated defensively after halftime to beat Lakeside 39-32 in a nonleague game Saturday in Nine Mile Falls.

The loss was Lakeside’s first of the season.

The Eagles shot just 13 percent from the floor and scored 11 points in the second half. Lakeside (8-1) was led by Ashley Cook-Cox, who scored eight points.

Colfax improved to 7-3.

Deer Park 44, Medical Lake 38: Zoey Mohr scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds – her second double-double in as many days – and the Stags (1-8) edged the visiting Cardinals (3-5) for their first win of the season. Cassidy Hagel tallied a team-high 10 points for Medical Lake.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 62, Odessa-Harrington 35: The Broncos (6-3) took a commanding lead early and rolled to a win over the Titans (4-6) in Ritzville. Jenna Bennett scored 18 points and Tonni Swannack added nine points and nine rebounds for LRS, which outscored Odessa-Harrington 14-1 in the second quarter and led 32-11 at halftime.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 62, Columbia 20: Katie Emerson led three players in double figures with 13 points and the Warriors (5-3) dominated from the opening tip in an easy win over the Lions (3-5) in Hunters.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 68, Liberty 40: Mackenzie Gray scored 18 points and Chanel Knight and Rachel Bozlee added 13 apiece as the Crusaders (11-0, 6-0) routed the visiting Lancers (4-8, 3-3). Liberty’s Christine Denny and Macy Cornmesser combined for 30 points.

Springdale 42, Reardan 41: Eilish Smith’s 3-pointer with just less than 2 minutes left proved to be the deciding factor in the Chargers’ win over the host Indians (2-9, 0-6). Smith finished with a team-high 17 points for Springdale (2-10, 1-5). Reardan’s Maddie Johnson led all scorers with 21 points.

Davenport 43, St. George’s 33: The Gorillas (6-5, 3-2) took control in the fourth and beat the host Dragons (4-8, 2-4). Davenport’s Natalee Hayes scored 17 points, including several crucial free throws down the stretch. The Gorillas outscored St. George’s 19-9 to break open a tie game.

Northeast 1B North

Cusick 60, Curlew 39: Caytlin Nima scored 18 points and the Panthers (5-3, 3-2) took advantage of 22 offensive rebounds in the first half in an easy win over the host Cougars (3-5, 2-3). Cusick’s Nalene Andrews scored 13 points and Jobahni Andrews added 11. Curlew was led by Kayleona Fanning and Haleigh Gibson, who combined for 26 points.

Republic 61, Selkirk 31: Savannah Bowe scored 17 points and the Tigers (9-1, 4-0) built a big first-half lead and coasted past the host Rangers (5-5, 2-2). Katie Couch and Hannah Rick combined for 29 of Selkirk’s 31 points.

Southeast 1B

St. John-Endicott 62, Touchet 36: The Eagles (7-2, 5-0) soared after a competitive first half and dumped the visiting Indians (2-3, 2-3). Abby Glorfield scored 16 points and Emily Jones added 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals for SJE, which outscored Touchet 37-10 in the second half after trailing by a point at halftime. Touchet’s Jo McKeown had a hot start, scoring all 22 of her points in the first half, but foul trouble limited her playing time in the second half.

Colton 75, Rosalia 21: Jenna Moser made five 3-pointers and scored 26 points to guide the Wildcats (7-0, 3-0) to a win over the host Spartans (5-3, 2-2). Jackie Warner added 16 points for Colton, which forced 37 turnovers.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 48, Garfield-Palouse 2: Kim Groom led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points and the Nighthawks (7-1, 4-0) overwhelmed the Vikings (3-6, 1-4) in Garfield. Jacey Johnson added 11 points for Tekoa-Oakesdale. Garfield’s lone basket came in the third quarter by Bri Brown.

Central Idaho 2A

Grangeville 33, Coeur d’Alene Charter 21: The Bulldogs gained the upper hand with an 11-0 second-quarter run and eased past the host Panthers. Coeur d’Alene Charter got six points from Sarah Haman, but the Panthers shot just 18 percent from the floor.
