People: Cosby working on new television show
Bill Cosby could be returning to the network with a new comedy as soon as next summer.
The series, described as a “classic, extended-family sitcom” with Cosby as the patriarch, is currently in the writing stage, NBC executives said at Sunday’s session of the summer TV critics’ tour. It was first announced in January.
Cosby, 77, has a long history with NBC, including his seminal “The Cosby Show,” which became a smash hit 30 years ago and helped rescue a network then at the bottom of the ratings. It ran for eight seasons.
After that, Cosby headlined a sitcom at CBS, among other series.
‘Cake Boss’ lost, found in fog
A summer sunset boat trip turned out to be no cake walk for reality TV’s “Cake Boss,” who’s thanking police and firefighters for getting his boat and passengers to safety after they were enveloped in fog in New York Harbor.
Buddy Valastro was bringing the boat back Friday evening to Jersey City, New Jersey, after a dinner excursion with friends and family, when a clear day suddenly changed.
“All of a sudden – boom! – we were in a really deep fog where you couldn’t see anything,” even 5 feet ahead, he recalled by phone Saturday.
About 12 people were aboard, including about eight children, said Valastro, who stars in TLC’s “Cake Boss” and “Next Great Baker.” His Carlo’s Bakery has four locations in New Jersey.
A longtime fisherman, Valastro said he used the 32-foot Boston Whaler’s radar and GPS to keep going, slowly, for a time. But he was concerned that other boats might not see his. And with children aboard, “we weren’t going to take a chance,” the father of four said.
They called for help, and police and firefighters found them in the fog within 10 minutes, he said.
The New York Police Department ultimately towed the boat to Jersey City.
JWoww gives birth to daughter
JWoww from “Jersey Shore” is a mom.
MTV officials said Jenni Farley welcomed her first child, daughter Meilani Alexandra Mathews, early Sunday afternoon in New Jersey. She weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces.
A representative for Farley said she and her daughter are doing well. The child’s father is Farley’s fiancé, Roger Mathews.
The 28-year-old Farley rose to fame on the MTV reality series “Jersey Shore,” which followed the boozy exploits of hard-partying 20-somethings at a shore house.
She went on to star in a spinoff show, “Snooki & JWoww,” with her close friend and “Jersey Shore” cast mate, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
