Obituary: Dreves, Marian “Peggy”

DREVES, Marian (Redinger) “Peggy” Marian Margaret Redinger, “Peggy” Dreves left this earth to be with her creator on July 4, 2014.

She was born on February 24, 1930 in Spokane to John and Margaret (Ulowetz) Redinger.

She graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1948, and entered the Sisters of the Holy Names Novitiate in Marylhurst, Oregon.

As Sister Margaret Joan, Peggy then proceeded to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education and taught in Parochial Schools in Tacoma, Seattle, Richland and Spokane.

Peggy progressed into Catholic Parish Administration in Spokane and Pullman.

In 1987 she requested and was granted a release from her vows as a Catholic nun.

Peggy married Martin Dreves in Bellevue in 1987.

Martin passed away in 1989.

Peggy relocated to Spokane in 2005 and resided at Fairwinds and Northpointe Retirement Centers.

Peggy is survived by two brothers, Robert/Dorothy of Kalispell, Montana and Richard/Barbara of Spokane.

She also is survived by 5 step-children in the Seattle area, 12 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her life will be celebrated with a Mass at St. Thomas More on Thursday, July 31st at 11:00AM.

The family suggests Memorial Donations to be given in her name to the Sisters of the Holy Names, the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Spokane.
