Obituary: Charbonneau, Geneva Elizabeth (Raney) “Jean”

Age 89

CHARBONNEAU, Geneva Elizabeth (Raney) “Jean” Died at Guardian Angel Assisted Living, Post Falls, ID.

on June 4, 2014 due to dementia.

She was 89.

Born at home in Spokane, Washington, March 20, 1925, the youngest child of Frank and Mary (Smith) Raney.

She graduated from Holy Names Academy (Class of 1943); worked for Western Union in Spokane until she married Sgt.

Albert J. Charbonneau, November 20, 1944, subsequent to his return from New Guinea where he served as a tail-gunner on a B-24 with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

She worked at Rena-Ware in the Valley 1960-1964 and Dyer Trucking 1964-1971.

She was a member of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al in 1994, and subsequently by all of her siblings and in-laws, becoming the last survivor of her family’s generation.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Charbonneau (husband Jay Fromkin) of Post Falls, her grandson, Donovan Jones and numerous nephews and nieces.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral.

She lived on 66 wooded acres from 1951 until 2007.

A lover of cats and dogs, and all creatures great and small, donations may be made in her memory to any animal shelter.
