Obituary: Torretta, Albert

TORRETTA, Albert Albert passed away at home on February 8, 2014, surrounded by loved ones.

Albert was born in Walla Walla on March 2, 1921, to Paul and Angela Torretta, who immigrated from Italy.

He grew up and worked on the family truck farm until July 1942, when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Al was in the Pacific Theater for over 32 months.

Al was discharged from the Marine Corps in February 1946, returning home to Walla Walla.

On Thanksgiving Day 1946, he married Dorothy Meiners.

Al became an electrical contractor.

Al was associated with St. Vincent de Paul.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dorothy; children, Patrick (Linda), Mark (Kathy), Mariann, John (Kevin); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Shields; sisters, Angela, and Caroline; a brother, David; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven; daughter, Paula Leah; and babies, James Evert, Joan Marie and Monica Lee.
