Obituary: Midkiff, Louise Thelma

MIDKIFF, Louise Thelma Louise Thelma R. (Colpitts) Midkiff passed away of natural causes with family in NJ.

She was born November 30, 1927 in Pouce Coupe, British Columbia and passed January 21, 2014.

She attended school in BC before meeting and marrying James F. Midkiff during his military service in Canada constructing the Alaska Highway, moving to Northport, WA; Spokane, WA; and St. Maries, ID in 1959.

Jim and Louise had one son, farmed on the St. Joe River near St. Maries, and later lived in St. Maries until she retired from the Benewah County Assessor’s office and they traveled extensively throughout the U.S. living in Yuma AZ; Deming, NM; Sequim, WA; and Pt Townsend, WA.

Louise moved to NJ to be closer to family following the passing of her husband.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, who was preceded by her husband and one brother, and she is survived by one son, Roger Midkiff of Cherry Hill NJ; one brother, Charles Colpitts, and one sister, Marjorie Colpitts Broatch Brent of Edmonton, Alberta, as well as three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was an avid and gifted life-long quilter who was a founding member of the Sun Bonnet Sue Quilt Club in Sequim, WA, where she received numerous awards and recognitions; enjoyed traveling, dancing, volunteering at the Presbyterian Church and attending her youngest grandson’s baseball games.

A Memorial Service and interment is scheduled for Pines Cemetery Chapel, 1402 So.
