Cleared The NCAA says Boise State can immediately assist a homeless football recruit who signed to play with the team in February. Antoine Turner said in an interview with KTVB-TV in Boise that he’s recently been living in a motel, along with a car belonging to his girlfriend, as he finishes up classes at Fullerton College in California. Boise State received permission Wednesday from the NCAA to reach out to Turner and offer support.

Released Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy was released from jail on $17,000 bond, one day after being arrested on charges of assault on a female and communicating threats. Mecklenburg County Judge Rebecca Thorne Tin ordered Hardy not to have any contact with the accuser and to attend three Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week.

Charged A man arrested in a weekend attack that severely injured a former Minnesota State, Mankato, football player has been charged with two felony assault counts. Police arrested 21-year-old Trevor Stenner Shelley of St. Peter hours after they released surveillance video showing a man in a red shirt running from the scene in downtown Mankato. According to the criminal complaint filed, witnesses identified Shelley as the man suspected of punching 24-year-old Isaac Dallas Kolstad and knocking him to the ground.

Hired The Tri-City Americans have a new coach. Mike Williamson, 41, was named the 20th coach of the Americans, replacing Jim Hiller, who was fired after five years behind the bench. Williamson coached the Calgary Hitmen the last five years before being fired in April.

Retained The San Jose Sharks are bringing back coach Todd McLellan and general manager Doug Wilson for another season. Owner Hasso Plattner issued a statement saying he was disappointed with the way the season finished, but that he supports Wilson’s recommendation to keep McLellan.

Moved A person familiar with the decision says the Pac-12 Conference will announce at a news conference today that it is moving the league championship game to the San Francisco 49ers’ new stadium in Santa Clara.

Added The Portland Timbers added one forward and parted with another. Nigerian forward Fanendo Adi joins the Timbers on loan from Danish first-division side FC Copenhagen. The Timbers waived forward Frederic Piquionne.
