Shock acquire veteran QB Brian Zbydniewski

The Spokane Shock acquired veteran quarterback Brian Zbydniewski from Cleveland in exchange for future considerations and claim order position.

Zbydniewski was a backup with the Shock in their inaugural season in arenafootball2 in 2006 and in the team’s first season in the Arena Football League in 2010.

“We’re excited to have someone in here that understands the game, someone who has been around for a long time,” coach Andy Olson said. “Having his knowledge of the game should help us out on Friday.”

After leaving Spokane, Zbydniewski spent time with Tampa Bay, New Orleans and Cleveland. He passed for 2,825 yards and 56 touchdowns in 11 starts with Tampa Bay in 2011.

Rookie Donovan Porterie has seen the majority of playing time at quarterback in the last two games. He’s 34 of 66 with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rashaad Carter started and played three series before moving back to wide receiver in last week’s loss to Arizona.

• In other moves, WR Adron Tennell (foot) was placed on injured reserve and backup QB Jarrett Brown was place on reassignment.
