Obituary: Walch, Eva (Kendall Payton)

Age 76

WALCH, Eva (Kendall Payton) May 24, 1937 - March 13, 2014 On March 13, Eva (Kendall Payton) Walch went to be with our Lord Jesus.

She passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Hospice House, Hummingbird Fields, Post Falls, Idaho.

Eva was adored by her daughters, Lori Payton Quist (Ed, Joel, Eric) and Roni Payton Uyeda (Ross Benson), many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Baby, her Yorkie-Poo.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Tom Walch, her former husband, Dick Payton, three brothers, George “Porgie”, Gary and Lee and nephew Perry Kendall.

Born in Ronan, MT, Eva’s early years were spent in Dixon.

MT, and Seattle.

The family moved to Spokane in 1945 where she attended Rogers High School.

After her marriage she lived in the Hillyard area for most of her life.

She worked as a waitress at the Bon Marche for 34 years.

She was also very active in the VFW Post 1474, The Shriner’s, and the Lilac Festival.

Eva was a survivor of the 1994 Fairchild AFB shooting tragedy, which left her an amputee.

Even after this, she continued working with love and compassion for the less fortunate; shopping the sales all year long for needy children, and actively supporting the Spokesman Review Christmas Fund.

She did volunteer work at the very location of the shooting for many years following.

It gave her purpose and she loved her fellow co-workers.

Once again, making “lemonade out of lemons”!

Eva never met a stranger.

She had a twinkle in her gorgeous green eyes, always offering a bright smile and encouraging words.

She touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew her!

Truly she was an angel…”Angels don’t always have two feet”.

Please join us for a Memorial Celebration of Eva’s Life with love, laughter, sharing and food on Sunday, June 1st, at 1:00 pm at the Wildlife Council, 6116 N. Market St., Spokane.
