Cooking classes on hold

Kitchen Engine is taking a break from cooking classes in December.

Classes are slated to resume in the new year. Meanwhile, there’s still room for one of the last offerings for 2014: Chilies en Nogada.

The dish features peccadillo-stuffed Poblano chili peppers smothered with a creamy walnut brandy sauce and garnished with pomegranate seeds. Side dishes include fragrant yellow rice and simmered pears.

The presentation-style, Mexican cooking class takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the shop, 621 W. Mallon Ave., Suite 416. It’s taught by chef Lynne Wiedemann and costs $39. Call (509) 328-3335.
