Obituary: Haase, Stanley James

Age 78

HAASE, Stanley James (Age 78) Went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2014.

He was born on August 8, 1936 in Palouse, WA to Gotthilf “Bill” and Eva (Rott) Haase.

The eldest of three children, Stan grew up in Lind, WA and graduated from Lind High School in 1954.

Majoring in Speech and Communications and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, he graduated from Washington State College in 1959.

He started his career as a radio DJ and sportscaster in Lewiston, ID where he met the love of his life, Lois Andrews.

They were married on January 19, 1963 and moved to Wenatchee, WA then Aberdeen, WA and finally settled in Spokane in 1967.

He went on to work for the Internal Revenue Service and retired at the age of 65.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marilyn Wilke (Chuck).

Stan is survived by his wife Lois of 51 years; his two children, Heidi Stavnes (George) of Spokane and Jason Haase (Mandee) of Pasco, WA; sister, Frances Parbs (Marlin) of Spokane; and his five grandchildren, Tyler (19), Connor (16), Victoria (7), Alivia (4) and Savanna (1).

A 30-year WSU football season ticket holder, Stan “bled crimson” and spent his last moments listening to the Cougs win, with his wife and children by his side.

He was a devoted husband, wonderful father and loving Gramps.

He loved to talk Cougar football with his grandsons and attend their local sporting events; and with his granddaughters, he enjoyed reading books, feeding the quail, and exploring.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 20 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Parish, 3720 E. Colbert Road, Colbert, WA 99005, with reception to follow.

Graveside services will be at Lind Cemetery in Lind, WA.
