Obituary: Haas, Pauline Anderson

Age 92

HAAS, Pauline Anderson Pauline Anderson Haas, born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1922, daughter of Harry and Pauline (Wilson) Anderson, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2015.

Pauline was an extremely accomplished artist and teacher.

Her earliest works started in 1929 when she was seven years old and she never stopped.

She began her art training on scholarship at the Cincinnati Art Academy and she received her MFA at Indiana University.

Pauline taught on the faculty at Whitworth College from 1961 to 1985 and served as chairperson of the art department.

Pauline met her husband Gus at the University of Indiana.

They were married November 17, 1944 in Bloomington, Indiana.

They served as teaching missionaries in Pakistan for three years.

She and Gus enjoyed traveling, their children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and summers at Priest Lake.

Pauline is survived by her daughter Judith Haas McKeehan and son Joe Haas.

Pauline had six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband Garland (Gus) Haas.

Pauline’s funeral service will be held at Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 Hawthorne Rd.

Spokane on Monday, August 17th at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pauline’s name to the Whitworth College Art Department.
