Obituary: Anderson, Robert Arthur “Bob”

Age 88

ANDERSON, Robert Arthur “Bob” (Age 88) Robert “Bob” Anderson of Spokane passed away Tuesday February 10, 2015 at Royal Park Care Center.

He was born March 5, 1926 to Arthur and Hollis (Hattenburg) Anderson in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was raised and attended schools in Spokane, Washington.

After his junior year of High School he joined the US Navy, and upon returning he finished his senior year during which time he met Johnnie Gossett on a blind date.

They were married three years later in 1949.

Bob’s entire career was spent as a technician in a dental lab; a skill from which he really never retired.

He enjoyed being outdoors and spent much time under the sun playing high school and semi-pro baseball and was one of the first to play snowshoe softball at Priest Lake.

Bob was a fix-it man for anything that needed repairing.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golfing as well as working with his hands.

Most of all Bob enjoyed his family and spending time at the Priest Lake cabin.

Bob always had a smile and had a great sense of humor that caused people to be immediately comfortable with him.

He was easy to visit with and strangers became friends almost instantly.

He was well liked and loved by many.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Johnnie and their two children, Murlaine (Brian) Steckler and Kris (Kay) Anderson; grandchildren: Emilee (Kevin) Sherry, Quincy (Michael) Grant, and Levi Anderson; step-grandchildren: Jordan (Ryan) Zumwalt and Garrett Schmerer; great-grandchildren: Carter, Paige, and Brooklyn Sherry, and Corbin Grant.

Bob’s family would like to thank the wonderful group of caretakers at Royal Park Care Center for taking such special care of our loved one.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday February 20, 2015 at 2:00pm at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home 1306 N. Monroe St. Spokane, WA.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made in Robert’s name to Hospice of Spokane, 121 South Arthur Street, Spokane, WA 99202 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
