Obituary: Croskrey, Laberta M.

Age 80

CROSKREY, Laberta M. (Age 80) Was born December 18, 1934 in Great Falls, MT and grew up in Kalispell, MT.

She lived in the country and attended a one room schoolhouse, ‘Bald Rock School’, through grade eight.

She then moved to town to finish her high school education.

She graduated an excellent typist and stenographer, garnering a job with a local insurance agent which she continued until she married her husband Dean in 1952.

Laberta was received by her Heavenly Family on February 13, 2015 after living most of her life in Spokane Valley.

She worked for West Valley School District, first as a library aide at two different elementary schools, ‘Seth Woodard and Orchard Center’.

Later she became a Special Education Secretary and so enjoyed working alongside teaching professionals, children and their families.

Laberta loved working beside her husband as they tended their fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens.

She was a member of the local PEO chapter DR for many years.

She loved walking with friends and family in Bloomsday, and was a faithful member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church for more than 52 years.

She loved music and sang in the Church Choir for all but the last three years.

Laberta believed the arts add richness to daily living and she and Dean regularly attended the Spokane Symphony and Civic Theatre.

Laberta always had a positive attitude about life.

We believe she demonstrated the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control to everyone she met.

She is loved and cherished by family and friends and is survived by her husband Dean Croskrey of Spokane Valley, WA; four children: Terry and Gloria Croskrey of Fort Collins CO, Linda and Bruce Booher of Medical Lake, WA, Greg and Teena Croskrey of Otis Orchards, WA and Nancy Croskrey and Michael Myers of Spokane Valley, WA; five grandchildren: Chris, Eric and Steven Booher, and Cady and Mikaella Croskrey, and two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Conrad Booher, and her “Chinese Son,” Mark Wen and his son Andy.

A Funeral Service will be held at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church on February 19th, 2:00 PM.

Laberta’s family suggests memorials be made to Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Rd., Spokane, WA 99206 or to the local PEO chapter DR, Treasure Joy Flint, 902 S. Shelley Lake Ln., Spokane Valley, WA 99037.
