Obituary: Stirn, Wilma J.

Age 87

STIRN, Wilma J.

Born to parents William and Svea Moon on January 22, 1928 in Spokane, died peacefully and surrounded by her kids on February 12, 2015.

Mom spent her last days as she lived her life: on her terms and calling the shots.

Mom graduated from North Central High School where she made lifelong friends and, up until very recently, enjoyed monthly alumni lunches with them.

Mom loved to golf, bowl, travel, putter in her yard, and spend time with friends and family.

She was a very strong minded and extremely independent person who always had an opinion and a story to tell.

She loved her family and friends deeply and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

Soon after high school, she began working at The Crescent where she was introduced to a co-worker’s son, our dad, Fred T. Stirn.

Together they provided a great life for their kids and for each other spending many happy summer vacations on the Oregon Coast where I’m sure they are together once again walking the beaches in search of the perfect agate.

She was preceded in death by our dad and her beloved husband in 1988, her parents, brothers Harry and Bob Hull and her sister Marion Cooper.

She is survived by her kids Barbara Bowlin (Jeff), Bruce Stirn (Peggy) and her birthday present Patricia Crane (Tim); her pride and joy, her grandkids Jennifer (Ryan), Shelly, Jed (Christina), Becky, Zach, John, Hannah, Katie, Nick; great-granddaughter Evelynn; and many nieces, and nephews; her cherished friends and neighbors; and her first great-grandson, Tyler James.

There will be no service per her request; she just asked that you raise a glass and think of her.

The family wishes to thank the nurses on the 5th floor at Holy Family Hospital and Gentiva’s Gene, Jennifer and Chris for the love, compassion and care you provided to our mom.

In lieu of flowers, Mom requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
