Driver speeding at 70 mph in 35 mph zone, officer says

Liberty Lake police arrested a reckless driving suspect on Christmas Day.

An officer spotted a car driving at 70 mph in the area of Mission Avenue and Drummond Road where the speed limit is 35 mph, said Police Chief Brian Asmus. The car actually passed the officer.

When the officer attempted to pull the car over, it was heading toward a couple walking their dog, Asmus said. The car slowed suddenly and then turned, driving up on the curb. The driver refused to speak to police and was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of reckless driving.
