Obituary: Duram, Ecidor “Doc”

DURAM, Ecidor “Doc” Doc was born in Canyon Blanco, New Mexico in 1926.

The Lord called him home on January 7, 2015 at the age of 88.

He attended public schools in Cody and Powell, Wyoming.

Doc was one of 11 children.

After high school Doc joined the Army and served two tours of duty.

In 1950 Doc joined the USAF and proudly served his country another 11 years as a Medical Air Evacuation Aid for wounded soldiers.

In 1951, during military leave he married his sweetheart, Lydia Schauer, and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

During their marriage they had one son James John Duram.

Doc’s faith was an important part of who he was and his love of the Lord, helping others, and his active life style reflected his kind, giving and un-daunting energy.

Doc has received several outstanding accommodations for his Military services.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Spokane Pharmaceutical Association.

Doc spent many years in rebuilding the north East district of the Boy Scouts of America and received the most prestigious award given a civilian, the Silver Beaver Award.

Doc was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church for over 42 years, giving his time and dedication to the church.

Doc received certificates of appreciation for volunteer services from the American Red Cross Mountain Rescue Unit and the Little League Baseball Program.

In 1994 Doc and Lydia joined the Spokane Yacht Club working on various committees and enjoyed being active members.

Doc is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Duram; son, James John Duram (wife Mary Duram); two grandson’s, Jason and James Duram; and three great-grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters, and enjoyed a large extended family.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9706 North Division, Spokane, Washington 99218.
