Obituary: Hendricksen, Wayne

HENDRICKSEN, Wayne (1932 - 2015) Passed away at age 82 after battling melanoma cancer for over 12 years.

Wayne grew up in Minnesota and later moved to Longview, WA, where started his work life driving a food mobile and setting bowling pins, but more importantly, where he met the love of his life, Norma Hansen.

Wayne served in the Korean War, earned his degree in chemical engineering and eventually worked as a nuclear research engineer in California, New York and Washington.

Wayne’s nuclear engineering team contributed to the development of nuclear fuel used in one of the first reactors that was placed on the moon in the 1960s.

Wayne and Norma loved to dance; Wayne’s favorite was always the polka.

He also loved to play with and watch his grandchildren play sports.

It is hard to imagine a grandparent attending more events and being more supportive of his family.

Wayne was truly a nice man and a humble man.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Norma, his son, Mark, daughter-in-law, Linda and grandchildren Taylor (Helen), Hayley and Hannah.

Wayne’s spirit can be seen and will live on through each of his family members, especially his grandchildren.

Wayne requested that there be no service.
