Here are the answers to this week’s quiz:

1. A. The award from the National Civic League went to 10 U.S. cities. Spokane, which previously won the award in 1974 and 2004, was recognized this year for focused efforts to boost high school graduation rates. Mike McGrath, a spokesman for the National Civic League, said an All-America City is “viewed as a city that gets things done, that works together.”

2. D. Rudy Peone, tribal chairman, said the partnership would bring energy and excitement to the West Plains. “We believe the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino would offer a unique experience, providing entertainment, dining and retail for local residents and tourists,” he said in announcing the signing of a letter of intent between the tribe and the company. The Hard Rock chain is known for displaying rock ’n’ roll memorabilia at its facilities around the world.

3. D. The fast-moving wildfire in Chelan County consumed homes and acreage on the north side of Wenatchee, prompting hurried evacuations.

4. C. An estimated 7,061,400 people lived in the Evergreen State as of April 2015. The state gained about 93,200 people between 2014 and 2015. The 1.34 percent increase is the largest annual bump since 2008.

5. C. The company was originally named Blue Ribbon Sports. The name changed in 1978 to Nike – the winged goddess of victory in Greek mythology – on the advice of a friend. Phil Knight said at the time, “I don’t love it, but it will grow on me.”
