Bandits edge closer

The Spokane Bandits took another step toward regionals on Monday.

Behind Griffen Davis’ shutout performance, the Bandits blanked host Bellingham 2-0 in an American Legion State AAA elimination game. Davis yielded just four hits and walked one.

Spokane broke the deadlock in the seventh when Dawson Pate doubled and was eventually squeezed in by Josh Foster. David Mickey added an insurance run with an RBI single in the eighth to score Tanner Parker.

The Bandits will face off with Kennewick today, with the winner guaranteed one of two berths to the Northwest Regionals in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Lakeside awaits the winner in the championship game.

Mt. Spokane out

Taylor Spring drove in three runs, and FM Sports knocked Mt. Spokane out of the AA State Tournament with a 13-5 win. Justin Macdonald and Wyatt Baker led Mt. Spokane with a two hits each.
