Indians nip Tri-City

Spokane wins despite generating just one hit

PASCO – Darius Day manufactured the lone run of the game in the ninth inning to lead the Spokane Indians over the Tri-City Dust Devils 1-0 at Gesa Stadium on Monday night.

Day led the ninth off with a walk and stole second base. With one out, Day went to third on a fielding error by Tri-City (22-17) reliever Samuel Holland, then scored when Holland uncorked a wild pitch two batters later.

Day had the only hit in the game for Spokane (20-19) in addition to his ninth inning walk. Jeffrey Springs (1-1) earned the win with two innings of hitless relief with two strikeouts.

In the fifth, Tri-City’s Peter Van Gansen singled to lead off and tried to score on Ty France’s one-out double, but Dylan Moore’s relay home was in time and Sheman Lacrus applied the tag.
