Obituary: Hughes, Alan Keith

Age 64

HUGHES, Alan Keith Passed July 20, 2015 at home in Puyallup, WA He was born November 23, 1950 Charles and Bertha Hughes.

He is preceded in death by his wife Tressie Hughes and granddaughter Sabrina Gabel.

He is survived by his children Rose Lynn Gabel Spokane, WA; Brenda Schweikert Rathdrum, ID; Anna Marie Short Kissimmee, FL; Marcus Alan Hughes Deer Park, WA, and ten grandchildren.

Alan is known in the Ham Radio World as KB7SVU, he became a silent key.

(No longer on the air).

He loved to climb and build radio towers.

He volunteered with the Emergency Management and Search and Rescue in Piece County for many years and he also volunteered his time with Field Day.

He loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed his time last year at Sturgis and was planning on going there again this year.

This year he spent time in Las Vegas for a gun convention and Florida for his granddaughter’s wedding.

He loved to travel and visit historical places.

Alan Hughes received a 2015 Volunteer of the Year Award for his leadership with River Watch to MOCC driving which made him an invaluable asset to Emergency Management.

In 2013 he received the Founders Award.

Alan organized the communications for the R2R and the B&O over the years.

He helped bring the events to a new level.

Funeral Services for Alan will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of STRATE FUNERAL HOME, Davenport, WA.

Interment services will be held at 1:00 PM at the Mt.

Hope Cemetery, Rockford, WA.
