Obituary: Michlitch, Helene Cora (Bly)

MICHLITCH, Helene Cora (Bly) (Age 99) Mother, grandmother and widow of adoring husband, Gil Michlitch, died just before her 100th birthday, with love and support of her family and friends.

Born in Deep Creek, Washington on August 18, 1915.

She attended school in Deep Creek and Cheney Normal College (EWU).

She married her love, Gil Michlitch from Tacoma, WA on November 15, 1936.

They moved from Spokane to Seattle and raised two daughters, Roberta and Mary.

Gil first worked as a butcher and eventually started “The Michlitch Company,” selling butcher supplies and spices throughout the Northwest.

Helene had a keen intellect with a wonderful wit and spirited sense of humor and used it to tell a good story.

She loved her family and always supported them with an open mind and heart.

She loved gardening and watching the birds right to the end; her gardens were spectacular; playing bridge with her friends and card games with her family, and she loved a good Manhattan.

Gil and Helene enjoyed their home at Hayden Lake, salmon fishing with her sister, Marjorie and the winters they spent in Mesa, AZ.

Helene is survived by her two daughters, Roberta (Terry) Hunt of Spokane and Mary (Dave) Hickman of Wolf Creek, MT; her grandchildren: Jay (Mary) Hunt, Craig (Joan) Hunt, Jill (Clint Hinkley) Hunt of Salmon, ID., John G. (Jennifer) Hill, of Portland, OR., Julann (Jason) Cawley of Seattle; great-grandchildren: Brad and Kimberly Hunt, Sweden, Mia and Ali Hunt, Spokane, Andrea (Craig) Leslie, Scottsdale, AZ, Angela Wilkins, Little Compton, RI., Mark Wilkins, Spokane, Abbie and Lewis Hill, Portland, OR; brother, Jay H. Bly, Spokane.

All of whom will always appreciate and remember her quiet strength, love, wisdom, sense of humor and the difference she made in our lives.

She was a blessing to us and we will miss our Mom, Grandma and Sister.

Private family services will be held.
