Canada 0, New Zealand 0: Host Canada played to a scoreless tie with New Zealand in a Group A match. In the 31st minute, New Zealand was awarded a penalty kick, but Amber Hearn – New Zealand’s all-time leading goal scorer – hit the crossbar. New Zealand still has never won a World Cup game in 11 chances.

Norway 1, Germany 1: Maren Mjelde curled in a free kick from just outside the penalty area in the 61st minute, giving 1995 champion Norway a tie against top-ranked Germany in a Group B match at Ottawa, Ontario. Anja Mittag put two-time champion Germany ahead in the sixth minute with her 37th international goal. Germany outshot Norway 27-4.

China 1, Netherlands 0: Wang Lisi scored in stoppage time to give China a Group A victory over the Netherlands. The last-ditch win puts the teams even on three points.

Thailand 3, Ivory Coast 2: Thanatta Chawong scored an insurance goal in the 75th minute which proved the difference and Thailand beat Ivory Coast in Group B.
