Registered Cheney resident Ryan Gray won the West of the Pecos Rodeo Saturday registering a bareback riding score of 92, the highest marked bareback ride in 2015 thus far, and the 10th highest-scored ride in history. Gray, an eight-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, rode the reigning world champion bareback horse, Dirty Jacket.

Terminated The Dutch football federation terminated the contract of national team coach Guus Hiddink, ending his second stint in charge after just one disappointing season. The KNVB said that Hiddink’s contract will now end on Wednesday. It had been set to last through next year’s European Championship. Hiddink took over after Louis van Gaal led the Netherlands to third place at last year’s World Cup, but the Netherlands have had a poor qualifying campaign for Euro 2016 so far. It sits third in Group A, behind leader Iceland and the Czech Republic. Signed Former Stanley Cup-winning goalie Antti Niemi used to live not far from Finnish countryman Kari Lehtonen. Now the pair will share a locker room in Dallas, faced with the persistent question of who will be the No. 1 goalie for the Stars, if they even have one. Niemi signed a three-year contract with the Stars. The deal came two days after Dallas acquired Niemi’s contract rights from San Jose for a seventh-round pick during the draft.

Announced Former star golfer Peter Oosterhuis says he has early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The 67-year-old Oosterhuis went public with the news in Golf World’s digital magazine with hopes it can bring attention and raise money toward finding a cure. Oosterhuis is a six-time Ryder Cup player from England.

Re-signed The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed defenseman Ian Cole. Cole received a three-year deal that carries a salary-cap hit of $2.1 million.

Agreed The San Jose Sharks agreed to a five-year, $16.35 million contract with pending restricted free agent Brenden Dillon.
