Obituary: Beck, Hazel Marie

Age 94

BECK, Hazel Marie (Age 94) Hazel was born October 22, 1920 and passed away on March 5, 2015.

She was the oldest of four siblings born to Wesley and Phillipine Story.

She lived her childhood years on a dairy and hay ranch in Valley, Washington.

Upon graduat-ing from high school, Hazel attended classes in hopes to become an x-ray technician.

Her schooling was interrupted permanently when she and Leo Beck, a classmate of many years, planned to get married.

They were married March 21, 1941 and raised two children.

Hazel and Leo loved to travel to Arizona and Death Valley.

They enjoyed golfing and eventually retired and built their home in Chewelah, Washington by the 4th green of the Chewelah Golf Course.

Hazel enjoyed many hobbies: canning, gardening, baking, and crafts.

At a young age she learned good work ethics as she helped her parents doing the chores on the ranch.

These work ethics would go with her throughout her entire life.

Hazel was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She was loved by family and many friends and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Carl Beck (1987), her granddaughter Tonya Renee Beck (1984), her brother Gordon Story, and sister Grace Gallegos.

She leaves behind her son Gordon (Marilyn Wendt) Beck; and daughter Sharon (Donald) Ammon; grandchildren Todd and Kim Beck, Jon and Lauralee Ammon, and Marvin and Kathryn Stiles; six great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Marron in Maryland; many nieces and nephews, and several cousins with Larry and Norma Story here in the Spokane area.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 11th at 11 am, Chewelah Memorial Park Cemetery, HWY 395 and Cemetery Road, Chewelah, Washington.

Memorial Services will be Thursday, March 12th at 11 am, Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane, WA.
