Obituary: Porter, Theodore R. “Ted”

Age 80

PORTER, Theodore R. “Ted” Theodore “Ted” R. Porter went from our arms to our Lord April 30, 2015.

Ted was born May 28, 1934 in Eureka, Montana.

Ted is preceded in death by his father William R. Porter and mother Pearl Irene (Millerman) Porter, step- mother Mary Louise Porter, brothers John, Bob and Lester, his sisters Beulah, Hazel, Faye and Margie.

He is survived by his wife Colleen, his daughter Vicky Connell and husband Ken, stepsons Brant and Bill Collier, brothers Bill and Pat and sister Jean Harmon, grandchildren Jason and Andy Connell, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ted served in the Army in 1956 where he was stationed in Germany until being disabled and was then active in the Army Reserves until 1962.

Ted went to work in 1959 for Lester N. Johnson and was initiated into the International Union of Operating Engineers in 1960 where he continued to work until his retirement.

Ted loved hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and spending time with family and friends.

A life Celebration is planned for Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00PM at the VFW Post 5924 in Elk, WA.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Ted’s name to the Newport Hospital and Health Services Long Term Care Unit.

Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
