Healed Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson is “doing much better after a good night’s sleep,” said his father Mychal Thompson during his regular guest spot on ESPN Radio in Los Angeles. The former WSU Cougar took a knee to the side of the head in the Warriors’ victory over the Rockets that put Golden State in the NBA Finals. Thompson told Yahoo Sports after the game that his son had vomited and was suffering from possible concussion symptoms. He also received three stitches in his right ear from a laceration.

Injured Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady tore his left ACL and will likely miss the season, leaving Denver to search for someone to protect Peyton Manning’s blind side. The injury happened Wednesday during offseason training activities.

Added Women have joined EA Sports’ popular soccer video game, making their debut this September in FIFA 2016. Twelve women’s national teams, including the United States, will now be included in the game.

Announced The San Jose Earthquakes’ new state-of-the-art venue, Avaya Stadium, will host the 2016 Major League Soccer All-Star Game. MLS Deputy Commissioner Mark Abbott made the announcement at Avaya. The game will be in late July next year.

Released The New York Jets released quarterback Matt Simms, who backed up starter Geno Smith the past two seasons. Simms became expendable when the Jets drafted Baylor’s Bryce Petty earlier this month.

Resigned St. John’s athletic director Chris Monasch has resigned after 10 years. The resignation is effective June 30.
