Obituary: Headley, Norma

HEADLEY, Norma Was born on June 23, 1920 to Lloyd and Elma Sharp, in Paso Robles, California.

She was raised in Templeton, CA.

with her sister Beverly and where her father owned a grocery store.

After high school she worked at Camp Roberts during WWII.

This is where she met Mel Headley and they were married on December 9, 1945.

They moved to Spokane where they lived in the area until his passing in 2011.

Over the course of her life Norma was active in Civil Defense (1950’s), Scouting, Washington State Grange member since 1946, and a Goodwill Auxiliary member.

Her hobbies were playing cards with friends and relatives at the lake.

She also worked as a clerk at Halpin’s Pharmacy for many years, and as a desk clerk at an RV park/motel during Expo 74.

Norma attended Spokane Valley United Methodist Church where she and Mel were active in many different aspects of the church.

In 1999, Norma and Mel moved from the family tree farm property to the Good Samaritan facility which is where they lived until their passing.

Norma is preceded in death by her husband Mel, her son Gordon, her sister Beverly, and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Art (Roberta); granddaughters, Jamie and Sarah; nieces, Gloria Mandella, Adele Sigler, Yvonne Kelly, Barbara Sundeen, Linda Thompson; nephews, Richard and Terry Headley.

A memorial service for Norma will be held at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church (SVUMC), 115 N. Raymond Road, Spokane Valley on Thursday, June 4th 2015 at 11:00AM.
