Local universities report their students in Paris are unharmed

All Gonzaga University and Washington State University students studying in Paris have checked in and are unharmed.

Efforts to reach the two WSU students studying in Paris were successful and they are fine, said assistant director of WSU News Robert Strenge.

There are four Gonzaga students currently studying in Paris and another three who are visiting for the weekend, said Richard Menard, director of Gonzaga’s study abroad program. None of the students were in the vicinity of Friday’s attacks, Menard said.

“They all know they’re supposed to stay in their housing when something like this happens,” he said.

The students will be physically checked on to make sure they are safe, Menard said.

An Eastern Washington University spokesman said Friday that the school does not have any students in Paris.
