Prep roundup: Colville blanks Eatonville in first round of state playoffs

Noah Robbins ran for 101 yards and a touchdown and Colville blanked Eatonville 29-0 in the first round of the State 1A football playoffs in wet, muddy conditions Saturday in Colville.

The Indians (9-1) had five sacks and held the Cruisers to 77 yards of total offense.

William Burton had an 80-yard kickoff return touchdown in the first quarter and Jack Hinds and Brayden Flugel added rushing touchdowns for Colville, which racked up 220 rushing yards on 45 carries.

The Indians will play Royal in the quarterfinals next weekend. Colville beat Royal 28-10 in the quarterfinals in last year’s state playoffs.

Sandpoint 31, Rigby 22: Davan Norris threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns and also scored on a 19-yard run as the Bulldogs (8-3) topped the Trojans in a 4A state semifinal game in Sandpoint.

The Bulldogs scored 18 unanswered points to start the game and held off Rigby’s second-half rally.

Sandpoint will play Bishop Kelly in the state title game Saturday at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho.

Liberty 16, Toledo 6: Tyler Haas ran for 132 yards and a touchdown and the Lancers (8-3) topped the Indians in a State 2B first-round game at Tiger Stadium in Centralia.

Liberty will play Napavine in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Republic 50, Garfield-Palouse 42: Aaron Fritts threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 169 yards and two scores as the Tigers (9-2) outlasted the Vikings (5-4) in the first round of the State 2B playoffs in Kettle Falls.

Republic’s Trevor Remien added 134 yards on the ground, including a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Tigers will play Liberty Christian in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Prosser 14, Clarkston 0: The Mustangs blanked the host Bantams (8-3) in the first round of the State 2A playoffs. Prosser will play Ellensburg in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Ellensburg 30, Cheney 7: The Blackhawks (9-2) were eliminated after falling to the Bulldogs in the first round of the State 2A playoffs in Ellensburg.

Zillah 69, Lakeside 31: The Leopards beat the Eagles (7-4) in a State 1A first-round game in Zillah, Washington.

Zillah will play Connell in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Touchet 42, Cusick 6: The Indians topped the Panthers (7-4) in a State 1B first-round game in Newport.

Touchet will play Almira/Coulee-Hartline in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Boys soccer

St. George’s 2, Prescott 1: Michael Hamilton scored twice and the Dragons (14-3) held on to beat the Tigers in a State 1B/2B first-round match in Prescott, Washington.

Prescott’s Jose Gonzalez scored in the 60th minute to cut the deficit in half, but the Tigers couldn’t get the equalizer.

St. George’s will play Mount Vernon Christian in the semifinals Friday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner, Washington.

Girls soccer

West Valley (Yakima) 2, Ferris 0: Caitlyn Quaempts scored in the first half and Carli Short added a goal late in the second half as the Rams blanked the Saxons (11-9) in a State 4A quarterfinal match in Yakima.

West Valley will play Gonzaga Prep in the semifinals on Friday at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup, Washington.

Connell 2, Deer Park 1: Jakkie Rivera and Mattie Mauseth scored first-half goals and the Eagles earned a comeback-victory over the Stags (15-2) in a State 1A quarterfinal match in Deer Park.

Deer Park’s Emmy Moore opened the scoring with a goal in the 14th minute.

Connell will play Cascade (Leavenworth) in the semifinals on Friday.
