Obituary: Lamp, Robert Holmes

Age 75

LAMP, Robert Holmes Robert Holmes Lamp passed away on November 18, 2015 from compli- cations due to a stroke.

He was born on September 9, 1940 in Spokane to Ray and Marie Lamp and lived the first 10 years of his life on the family farm in Harrington, WA.

The family moved to Spokane, but part of his heart was always on the farm - he loved the connection to the land.

After graduating from Gonzaga Prep, he attended Washington State University and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1962.

Law School at the University of Washington followed, and then two years in the US Army where he attained the rank of Captain.

Bob and Anita were married in 1963, and were blessed with 51 years and 11 months together.

When Anita began working in travel, Bob discovered the world and wanted to see and cruise as much of it as possible.

They did their best and enjoyed every trip.

His professional life began in 1967 with the State Attorney General’s office in Olympia, followed in 1969 by a transfer to Spokane.

In 1971 he joined Witherspoon Kelly Davenport & Toole where he practiced law for 44 years.

He served on the Washington State Bar Examiner Board for 20 years, each year writing a question on probate law for the winter Bar Exam.

In 2005 he received the Professionalism award from the WSBA for his exemplary service as a lawyer.

Bob also gave countless hours to Catholic Charities over the years, serving on many boards and committees.

When asked to help, he could never say no to their needs and was awarded the Bishop’s Medal in recognition.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Marie Lamp and two brothers, Thomas and Raymond Lamp.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; and children, Kristina Murray (Steve), John Lamp (Laurie), David Lamp (Casie) and Michael Lamp (Michelle).

Eleven grandchildren also think he is a very special grandpa and will miss him dearly.

Survivors also include his brothers, John, Donald, Christopher and their families.
