Architecture

NAC Architecture has hired Andy Phan as an electrical designer/technician and Courtney Merrill as an office coordinator. Phan is currently working on the Walla Walla Community College Clarkston Workforce and Business Development Center and the Eastern Washington University Arc Flash Study.

Education

The National Academic Advising Association has named Mary Sánchez Lanier as a recipient of the Outstanding Advising Award in the faculty category. Sánchez Lanier is an assistant vice provost at Washington State University. The award was given in recognition of her work supporting WSU students.

Dedra Buchwald has been named director of Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane’s new Initiative for Research and Education to Advance Community Health program. Buchwald was previously a professor of epidemiology and medicine at the University of Washington. Other members of the program include: Michael McDonell, Kai’mi Sinclair and Lonnie Nelson, all faculty members in Partnerships for Native Health; Glen Duncan, chair of WSU Spokane’s nutrition and exercise physiology program; and Abigail Echo-Hawk, co-director of Partnerships for Native Health.

Finance

Karen English has earned the Certified Financial Planner designation. English is an associate vice president and financial adviser with the Spokane branch of RBC Wealth Management.

Health care

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists has named Robert Wunar as chief executive officer. Wunar has more than 14 years of experience as a health care executive. He is a certified medical practice executive and a certified practice manager.

Law

The firm of Winston & Cashatt, Lawyers has named Timothy R. Fisher and Lisa A. Malpass as principals. Fisher has practiced law in Washington since 2008 and joined Winston & Cashatt in 2013. He has experience in bankruptcy, real estate, commercial litigation, and corporate transactional work and is president-elect of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Eastern District of Washington. Malpass has been licensed as an attorney in Washington state since 2003 and has experience in guardianship law, simple estate planning, probate, vulnerable adult protection orders and defense of DSHS administrative actions. She has been with the firm since 2014.

Bill Etter, of Etter, McMahon, Lamberson, Van Wert & Oreskovich, P.C., has been named to the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for the Pacific Northwest.

Miscellaneous

No-Li Brewhouse has been named a recipient of the National Beer Wholesalers Association’s inaugural Brewer Partner of the Year Award. The award was given in recognition of No-Li’s work producing beer, building partnerships, providing education and offering support to customers.

Nonprofit

The Washington State Housing Finance Commission has named Cindy Algeo as a recipient of a “Friends of Housing” Award in recognition of her work supporting and advocating for affordable housing in Spokane. Algeo has been the director of the Spokane Low-Income Housing Consortium since 2004.

Retail

Etailz has hired Melissa Barringer as a promotions and brand marketing coordinator, Tom Lembeck as an inventory clerk, Makenzie Knoll as a purchase order associate and Sean Moloney as a first to market associate.
