Obituary: Mccandless, Maxine Isherwood

McCANDLESS, Maxine Isherwood (Age 84) Maxine passed away on Sunday 10/18 peacefully at her home in Spokane.

She is survived by her children, Jackie Mather, Gail, Doug and Brett McCandless and Marc Weller, also many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand- children.

She brought joy and love too many people and will be more than missed by all that knew her.

Although she was survived by her five living children if you were to ask her how many children she had she would tell you seven, one child who passed prior to birth and Brad McCandless who passed in childhood.

When she talked about her children she would say “I have five kids and not a clinker in the bunch”.

And her children said many times to each other and to her “She was the best mother to all of us and there was not one thing any of us would change”.

Maxine was born in Prosser Washington on 12/31/30, yes on New Year’s Eve, her mother went into labor at a party, what away to start life with a bang and a celebration!

She spent most of her childhood in Sunnyside Washington where she said many time “I had the perfect childhood” with parents Howard and Wanda and her brothers Lee and Jack Isherwood.

Maxine moved to Spokane after high school to attend beauty school, as an adult she owned her own salon as well as worked as a beauty operator in several other salons in Washington.

Although strong in opinion she had and incredibly big heart and the thing she did best was take care of her family and friends.

She will be thought about and missed everyday with happy loving memories.

Maxine felt she was very lucky to have the life she had and we were all lucky to have her in our lives, I guess you can’t ask for more than that!

In closing a poem written by Brett for our mother over thirty years ago that reflects many things we all feel.

A mother is a thing you cannot do without She gives love and praise and makes you stout Her love is jewels and gold and stones She makes sure if nothing else we have a home I’ve lived many years with this lady called mom And oh how I’d miss just one if it were gone Although we have screamed and yelled and fought That’s little sacrifice for the things I’ve been taught Her lessons of love and caring and sharing These few things many times, have kept my nerves from tearing Many friends have traveled through my life But the best one of all is my mother in my life
