Mead wins, faces University in GSL slowpitch title game
It’ll be upstart Mead against perenniel contender University for the Greater Spokane League District championship Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at U-Hi after they won semifinals Monday.
Carolyn Wendell and Destiny Scott had RBI singles in a three-run seventh inning that lifted Mead (16-6, 14-6 GSL) to a come-from-behind 3-1 victory at Central Valley (16-5, 16-4). Aubrey Williams singled to drive in Jordan Schneidmiller for the Bears in the third inning.
Lexi Ivankovich was 3 for 3 with three RBIs for top-seeded U-Hi (20-1, 19-1) in a 13-3, five-inning victory over Shadle Park (15-7, 14-6). Gracee Dwyer and Brianna Hecker went 2 for 3 for the Titans. Bree Barnes was 3 for 3 with a triple for Shadle Park.
Mead and Shadle tied for third during league play behind U-Hi and CV.
