Obituary: Deusser, Stanley D. “Poppy”
Age 83
Born to Charles and Leona Deusser on July 15, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He married the love of his life, Ann, on June 8, 1951 in Coeur d’Alene, ID, they were happily married for 64 years.
Stan served in the US Army from 1949-1953 during the Korean Conflict.
He was Engineering Technician for Battelle Northwest in Hanford, WA until 1984.
In 1984 he moved to Ponderay County where he and Ann lived and played until 2005 before settling in Coeur d’Alene.
Stan was a Little League coach for 12 years in the Pony League and umpired for many years as well.
He enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and played football while in the Army.
He was a charter member of the Tri-Cities, WA Elks Lodge #2755 and an associate member for the Coeur d’Alene, ID Elks Lodge #1254 for nine years.
One of his great loves was playing the banjo and singing with family and friends.
Later in life he began collecting gnomes and always loved working with his hands, woodworking, welding, and repairing TVs and cars.
He was a very good artist and passed that on to his children and grandchildren, he even won a contest in Indiana for art work.
Stan is survived by his wife Ann L. Deusser; and children Lottie (Lee) Kinney/George - Spokane, WA, Stanley D. Deusser II - Denver, CO, Julie Schrader/Robert - Coeur d’Alene, ID, Charles R. Deusser - deceased; grandchildren Ann Perkins - Spokane, WA, Tara Carter/Stephen - Spokane, WA, Charles Kinney/Sierra- Encintas, CA, Stanley D. Deusser III/Jennifer - Denver, CO, Candice Belleza/Fernando - Denver, CO, Hiedi Schrader - Coeur d’Alene, ID, Heather Stamsos/Travis - Coeur d’Alene, ID, Carl Schrader - Coeur d’Alene, ID, Hannah Schrader - Coeur d’Alene, ID.
He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Marion Strawn - Noblesville, Indiana, Carol Burks/William - Longview, TX and many, many nieces and nephews.
The family would like thank Kootenai Health Emergency Room and Critical Care Staff and Doctors Hoopman and York for the excellent care they provided.
A special thanks to North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital staff and the Kootenai Clinic-Cancer Services.
They would also like to give a very special thank you to the Coeur d’Alene VA and the home based care team.
